Hello, I am working with P100-387. Today I have realized, that there are some problem with new updates for windows and updated for Office 2007. I am not able to open Word. Excel is workin, Power Point also. During opening Word, the splash screen remains long (about 3-4 minutes), than the menu is being loaded, but when I try do click on something.not responding. I have tried to delete some KB, but nothing helped.
I downloade also all updates for Office 2007 - still not working. So the last solution is to reinstall of Windows. Please tell me how to do it?
I have tried to use Recovery Disc, but I am frighten - there is message that my HDD will be formated into one partition (at the moment I have 4, and I want to have them all the time with all data). My goal is to format only C: (where the system is) and install new/fresh Windows XP MCE. Please give solution, how to solve this problem.
Best regards Szymon [email protected]. I have tried to use Recovery Disc, but I am frighten - there is message that my HDD will be formatted into one partition Well generally it’s true The recovery CD would format the whole HDD and would erase all the partitions and would set the notebook to the factory settings. But the question is; what Toshiba Recovery CD do you have? I presume it is the newer version of the Recovery CD because the Satellite P100-387 notebook is not very old. Can you choose between the “Standard recovery mode” and “Expert mode”?
Using the expert mode you should be able to choose the partition where the OS would be installed. But if it’s not able to choose between these two recovery modes then I assume you have the new Recovery CD called RECO and there is no other option as to format the whole HDD. In such case the data backup would be advisable Of course you can use the original Microsoft CD. Using such CD you will be able to install the OS on the single partition without to format the whole HDD. Best regards. Hello, Recovery Disc I have is old one, because there is no expert mode. The only one option is to delete all the partition, build big one.

That why I am wondering is there is other way to reinstall the Win MCE? The only thing I need is: Win MCE OS CD (not included - maybe on the hidden partition?), drivers CD, advice how to do it.
I am also wondering: 1. If it is possible to install WinXP Prof? What about the guarantee? Will it have any influence, eg. Loosing the guarantee? In the future, if I want to back to the Win MCE, how to do it?
Where to find the OS CD? Is there any special way to install WinXP Prof? Or is it like on desktop computer: A) boot from CD, B) format C:, C) install WinXP, D) enjoy. I remember long time ago, using Win98 SE, there was a special function (or way) to install Win98 SE on notebook.
Best reagards Szymon [email protected]. Recovery Disc I have is old one, because there is no expert mode It seems you didn’t understand my first answer. You have the new Recovery CD called RECO if you have no expert mode;) However, recovery CD will format the whole HDD. Regarding the point; 1) Yes it’s possible 2) Installation of other OS has no influence on the warranty. It still will be valid. 3) The Windows XP MCE is a part of the recovery CD. The preinstalled image contains OS, Toshiba driver, tools and additional programs.
If you want to switch back to the MCE then simply boot from the recovery CD 4) It’s like on desktop computer: boot from CD, format C:, install WinXP, enjoy;) Bye. Hello Jimi, I have started as You told me, but. (yes, there is a problem). I have made following steps: - insert CD with WinXP SP2, - boot from CD, - format C: (NTFS), - start instalation, - error occures. The first step of installation was OK, when installer comes with 'the blue background' and the installation progress (on the left), on the point called 'Windows install' message comes: ' Error: Installation Failed: H: I386 asma. Error message: Incorrect function.
